Monthly report Vale of York Natter MGCC
For the first time in ages it was wet, so we were back in the ‘snug’ at the Masons. A special thanks to Bob and Beth Walker and Chas Hills, who came in their “oldies”! We also welcomed Tim Rowe from the MGF Register, and Noel Linford from Tyne Tees.
Planning started on our second run, this time to be a Wednesday run on our Natter day on 21st September. We are calling it the “Battles Run” around the various English battle sites around and in York. It will start and finish at our regular haunt – ‘The Masons’ at Hopperton. Any other MGGC members are welcome to join us by contacting me – kencothliff@hotmail.co.uk.
Other conversations were about a busy forthcoming August/September with shows at Temple Newsham, Leeds and Otley, and Northallerton as well as the centre Compass Run
Hi Folks,
Monthly report Vale of York Natter MGCC
July Natter was the first for some considerable time in the rain, so we were back in the small snug at the Masons. In saying that we fully filled all the tables. We welcomed Tim Rowe from the MGF Register, and Noel Linford came the 60 miles or so down from Newcastle to join in.
After a chat with Dave Fletcher, and Chas Hills we agreed that the September Natter on 21st will consist of a run out around the city of York, visiting the locations of various battles in English history. Dave, Chas and I will sort the route, and timing next week. Kim at the Masons, where we will start & finish, has agreed we could have a late lunch. We would like your support so I will be asking for names, so we know how many route plans to run off. I will be asking for a list of names at the next Natter on 17th August. There will be no mandatory fee, but we will be taking a donation for a charity to be decided at the Natter.
In addition to forthcoming events in which we are involved – Compass Run to Lotherton Hall on 30th July, Temple Newsham on 19 August and Otley on 10th September, there is the Yorkshire Centre Dales Run on 27th August – Paul Croft is still taking entries. As I’m personally gathering names for Otley, do need your entry details by end of this month at the latest – Car reg. & type and name. I know it’s a while off but they need to know as space is somewhat tight.
Another date for your diary – the Golden Lion Classic car show in Northallerton on Sunday 18th October. A good one for the ladies this as it’s right in the centre of a good shopping area – Julie likes this!
Noel Linford invited any of us to join in the Tyne Tees “Yorkshire weekend” 6th to 9th October – based around Pickering and the Forest and Vale Hotel. Details from secretary David Alexander at david.alexander2012@btinternet.com Noel said if you only want to join part of the weekend, you will be welcome. Julie and I hope to be with them on the Saturday only
Have a great summer and see you in August
Happy Driving!
