MG Car Club Yorkshire Centre
Welcome to the Yorkshire MG Car Club
Each member of the MG Car Club belongs to one of the club’s 12 geographically based regional Centres that aim to bring together local MG enthusiasts so that they can participate in locally organised events.
The Yorkshire Centre’s remit is to cover the interest of members in Yorkshire. Due to the variance of geography we find that some of our members come from the surround counties while others from Yorkshire may belong to adjoining centres.
Your first contact with the Centre may well be at one of our monthly meeting (Natters ) these are pub gatherings where you can meet local members socially. Attendances at these informal meetings vary from just a few to 30 or so enthusiasts.
We have meetings (Natters) located in the North, South, East & West areas of Yorkshire these are equally attended by ladies & gentlemen of all ages to which you will be most warmly welcomed
Click on Natters calendar for further details & directions

With the latest Government restrictions on our movements, I think it shows we are a long way off, before life gets back to some normality.
Because of the coronavirus, I’m extending our cancellation of activities, up to and including Tuesday 30th June 2020.
Motorsport UK have cancelled all Race Permits until the end of June.
This will mean that unfortunately ‘MGLive!’ at Silverstone, for the time being is postponed.
There is little that can be said, just very disappointing for everyone in our Club and at Kimber House.
I have included a statement from Kimber House, about MGLive! which is at the end of this email?
We also need to be mindful, that cancellations/postponements may have to be extended even further, unless real signs of reduced Coronavirus infections are seen in the UK and beyond.
I really hate cancelling events, because I’m sure you understand, an awful lot of work goes in behind the scenes to ensure everyone has a great and very enjoyable day.
It may be possible that we can find an alternative dates for cancelled events later in the year, but we will need everyone to be well and safe as a priority, before we go ahead.
As Chairman of the MG Car Club Yorkshire Centre, the Committee and myself have a duty of care to you our member. So reckless planning of events is not acceptable.
With regard to our social runs, many of our members fall in ‘the at risk people groups’, who are now forced to stay at home for the next month, or possibly 3 months.
So I repeat, All our Natters and Events and activities are now cancelled until the end of June 2020 and possibly beyond, but we will review that at the end of May.
The following Runs have now been cancelled:
19th April Daffodil Run
26th April Drive it Day Run out
6th May Wolds Way Run
31st May Heartbeat Run
If you have already booked on and paid, the following options are available to you (excluding MGLive!):
1) entry and donation will be repaid.
2) entry only repaid.
If you are happy for the Yorkshire Centre to hang onto your Charity Donation, this will be sent to the relevant charity that the Run was in aid of.
The exception is:13/14th June MGLive! which is postponed.
The following statement was released by the MG Car Club Tuesday evening 24th March:
The Covid-19 pandemic has developed rapidly and with news that motorsport’s governing body, Motorsport UK, has suspended all organising permits and Certificates of Exemption for motorsport events until at least 30th June, the MG Car Club has been required to postpone MGLive! 2020.
We are currently entering into extensive discussions with Silverstone and our other event partners to find suitable options to reschedule the event.
All entry tickets, camping passes and exhibitor bookings already purchased for the event, due to be held 13-14 June 2020, will be valid for the rescheduled date.
Adam Sloman, General Manager of the MGCC said:
“We remain committed to following UK Government and Motorsport UK advice. Therefore, in light of this updated guidance, we have had to make the very difficult decision, in conjunction with Silverstone, to postpone the event. This is an unprecedented situation and we will now enter into negotiations to secure a new date as soon as possible. We realise that the situation is far from ideal, therefore we ask for patience and understanding during this complex time.”
Current government and public health advice states that all, non-essential social contact with other people should be avoided for the foreseeable future.
PLEASE NOTE: The MG Car Club asks specifically that, in the first instance, attendees booked to attend do not contact us regarding refunds at this stage. The MG Car Club will be in touch with each one of those who have already booked and paid, to explain in detail, the options available to them. Anyone who is not able to attend the new dates for the event following their announcement will be issued a full refund in due course.
The MG Car Club wishes to thank all attendees for their patience whilst contingency plans are being put in place and we look to transition to a new date. A further update will be issued as soon as possible.
Like many organisations, the club’s offices at Kimber House in Abingdon are currently closed to visitors and much of the team are working remotely, so please be patient if calling the office or enquiring via email as the MGCC is experiencing a high volume of correspondence in the present situation.
Let’s hope we can get a number of events in before year end. We will of cause be advised by the Government and the MG Car Club.
Very best wishes to you all. Keep safe and well.
Colin Brear, Chairman MG Car Club Yorkshire Centre
and North Yorkshire Natter Leader.
