Members report Vale of York Natter MGCC – June
Just when I think it can’t get better, you folks come up with a superb response for the “Pride of Ownership” fun meeting at the June Natter. It was a lovely day, again. We had a total of nineteen cars, and no less than 16 different marques! I think few natters can match that for a selection. We had the whole range of MGs from Tony Margel’s M type, to Rick Illingworth’s modern TF.
The winner was Terry with his PB, second Tony Hay’s NA, and third Rob Lowery’s YB. Chas presented plaques, badges and an appropriate ‘special’ prize of a rare collectable 45rpm record of “I’m so proud” to Terry. Our thanks go out to Chas for funding the prizes, and putting the event together, in my absence. Tony Hay also won the “Hosts Award” selected by Kim and Cerys from the Masons.
Now meeting in the larger restaurant section of the pub meant we had plenty of room. We dished out the free tickets allocated to the MGCC for the Harewood event on 2nd July. Future events include Newby Hall on 16 July, Harrogate MG club’s event at Pateley Bridge on 6th August, and Croft Historic Meet on 5th/6th August. Dennis is organising an event at Temple Newsham House on 19th August – free entry just download entry form from www.leedsmgcc.co.uk; entry by voluntary donation to St. Gemma’s Hospice. I am not organizing anything for the Yorkshire area “Compass Run” to Lotherton Hall on 30th July as I have visitors here from Canada. I chatted to Tony Hay about it and we agreed if any of you just want to roll up at the Hall and represent to Natter, feel free to do so.
A new event brought to my attention at the recent monthly “Wednesday at the Woolly” event at Esholt (third Wednesday evening in the month!) is a new show “Super Cars and Super Heroes” in Keighley, in aid of Beechcliffe Special Needs artley with is PB, and with his PB
School in the town. They would like to have the MGCC represented. It is on 16th September. No entry fee but hot drinks and a hot lunch will be provided. Several motor clubs and makes will be represented, and the show is on hard standing and will be well policed. If you are interested contact Julian Maxfield on maxtwr@aol.com.
Importantly the major event for the MG Car Club in this area is the “Dales Run” on 27th August. If you haven’t yet entered download the entry form on the MGCC Yorkshire Area website. I gather from Paul Croft there are many entries already in.
Finally can I draw your attention to the “Otley Vintage Transport Extravaganza” on 10th September. Several of you have indicated you want to attend, and I will be collecting names at the July Natter.
That’s a lot to be going on with. Thanks to all of you for your continuing support making the Natter so successful.
Happy Driving!
