November 24 Notes

YORKSHIRE CENTRE  wwwmgccyorkshire.co.ukScribe Ray Snowley ‘sno500@outlook.com’

North – Jeff Marsden

Our last meeting, held on October 10th, was an entertaining talk and photo presentation by Graham Read. He is a motorsport journalist and a big F1 fan. His presentation was on Monaco, it’s history, the Royals, and of course, F1. All members enjoyed the evening.

Luckily the weather was fine and dry for our End of Season Run on 19th October organised by Jeff & Kate Marsden. Ten cars started from The Tempest and ventured south over the moors to Hebden Bridge, and then around the narrow lanes of Calderdale, to return to a pub in Glusburn for a meal and chat about the route and what went wrong and where they got lost. Seems a good time was had by all.

Reminder re Xmas Lunch

East – Jill Thornton

October’s Natter was very well attended and everyone enjoyed the talk/slide show presented by

Local historian Dennis Chapman about ‘The Life of Hull  born Architect Charles Broderick’

To show our appreciation to Dennis we made a contribution to his chosen charity The Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

This year’s EYCC Christmas Run and lunch will take place on Sunday 8th December to start and finish at Cottingham Parks Golf & Leisure Club, Cottingham HU16 5SW. Further information and contact details can be found on the Yorkshire Calendar of Events on the website. You may still have time to secure a place .

We will run the annual Scalextric Challenge on the 12th December Natter.

As usual we will use the January Natter to go through our own calendar of events and organise volunteers for various activities.

East Yorkshire CC would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a ‘breakdown free’ New Year !

Vale Of York – James Thornborough.

A gorgeous Autumn day saw 26 members arrive for the VoY Natter at the Blue Bell in Arkendale.

New amongst us were Nigel & Jo Constance, owners of a home market BRG RV8, which gets plenty of use across Europe on camping tours. Unfortunately their RV8 does not have sufficient room for their beautiful golden retrievers, all female, and all utterly adorable, across three generations. The retrievers require more commodious vehicular accommodation. A four legged reunion is planned soon for a 9 pup litter reunion. No tramps here, just ladies.

As regards modern MG’s , former Natter Leader Rick Illingworth has treated himself to a handsome MG HS , and out and about a vivid yellow MG Cyberster was spotted brightening up the kerb side in Harrogate – very eye catching .

South – Rob Mitchell

This month, members reported an excellent Alan Dakeyne / 94th Anniversary Run that took place on the 12th October. Next immediate events are the Christmas meal on Saturday 7th December 2024, and the traditional Chilly Willy Run on 1st January 2025. Places currently available, so please get in touch if you’re interested in joining us.

A number of members are planning to attend the Classic Motor Show at the NEC Birmingham.

This is an amazing event if you haven’t been before and is always well attended – and well represented by our cars . Also keep an eye out for the Donington Historic Festival in May – more details to follow.

Whatever your plans are over the coming weeks, keep safe and enjoy !

West – David Copeman

Autumn runs in October. West joined along with members from most other Yorkshire natters to

Enjoy The Alan Dakeyne / MG 94th Anniversary Run organised by the 24/39 Group. Later in the month we also joined North Yorkshire on their End of Season Run. Both events had good weather which must be a record year, Daffodil, Cavalcade, Drive It Day, Wolds Way, Dales Run all blessed with sunshine . Fingers crossed for next year !

Date for your 2025 Diary is Awards Lunch 23rd February.

Wishing you all the very best for Christmas and New Year
