South Yorkshire – Geoff Norcliffe

Our Christmas celebrations were spent with a run out to Harewood House where we took part in a tour of the house depicting Christmas’ past. This was followed with a meal at a local hostelry and distribution of the secret Santa gifts. All this organised by Sue Hibbert; thanks Sue.

The first of the Centre Runs will soon be upon us, The Daffodil Run with a new date this year, details on the website.

East Yorkshire – Brian Rylance

Flowers were presented to thank Jill and Greg Thornton for organising the many Christmas Runs and lunches for the natter.  The delicious lunch was at Cave Castle which was in full Christmas decoration.  Having obtained replacement power unit and handsets the December Scalextric Natter was without its usual breakdowns.  Congratulations to 2018 champion Geoff Kirk and to runner up, Carl Reid.  The East Yorkshire natter is now at The Duke of Cumberland,                            The Green,, Cottingham, HU16 5QG

West Yorkshire-David Copeman

I had nothing to report for January as I write these notes in December 2018, but thought this MGF/TF seat adaption may be of possible interest to the more mature passengers who find the low seat position difficult to get in and out of. The passenger seat has been raised 75mm, matching the height and headroom of the RV8 and achieving a much more comfortable seating position. Thanks to Chris at Retro Sports Cars.

Vale of York – Ken Cothliff

Well, that was some Christmas Party. Thirty three people attended the dinner at the Masons on 20th December. Excellent raffle organized by Rod, and everyone got a prize – admittedly some were more fun than practical. Special thanks to Mal Reeves for the MG Clock, which was won by Andrea Fletcher. We welcomed new Natter Members, Stella and Robert – longstanding MG owners who run Yorkshire’s best Smokehouse – not to be missed if you are in Nidderdale.

Dave Fletcher and Dennis Hodge came forward to offer their help for the Heartbeat Run on 25th May, so that is our big event for this year. The plan to start at Thirst Racecourse – Julie and I to check out practicalities of that, and will visit soon. They have expressed interest to help. We also have to offer of the wife of the original Author of the series, Mrs. Rhea who would flag off the starters.

Can I remind you of the Yorkshire Area Annual Dinner and Awards giving at the Bridge Inn, Wetherby, (right in our area) on 17th February. For the first time there will be an Trophy for the VoY Natter member who has contributed to the running of the Natter. L

If you have any ideas for any Natter events next year, (afternoon runs, treasure hunt or anything else) do bring them to the first 2019 meeting which will be on January 17 at the Masons. This is YOUR Natter, so feel free to make a suggestion.

Happy New Year from Julie and I. See you in 2019.

Happy Driving!
