West – David Copeman – A rather quiet October meeting with the usual regular members attending. Time to SORN the RV8 at the month end after our final outing on the excellent 92ND Anniversary Tour organised by the 24/39 Group.

We joined fellow members of the MGF/TF Group to say our goodbyes for 2022 to Pam Lofthouse & Robert Ingham who are returning to Australia for their summer, being well informed that their return flight tickets for 2023 are already booked at a breakfast meeting at the Grantham Arms Boroughbridge.

24/39 Group – Terry Hartley. – As you know we, in the 24/39 Group Natter, at last managed to get our much delayed MGCC Anniversary event off the start line. It was run over the 9th to 11th Oct period (nearest we could manage to the Clubs actual birthday of the 12th)

Yorkshire Centre 24/39 Group – Event review for Safety Fast! notes.

2 years ago, our natter’s plan to celebrate the Club’s 90th Anniversary with a 3-day touring event was put on hold thanks to Covid, but at last it all came good and we got to celebrate the 92nd Anniversary in great style with a scenic tour of the Yorkshire Wolds between Sunday 9th and Tuesday 11th October.

In all, 16 cars (28 people) from the 24/39 Group, Vale of York, North, East and West Yorkshire natters plus a few entrants from further afield took part driving MGs representing almost all of our Club’s long active history. From our event base at Cave Castle Hotel, South Cave, we enjoyed 3 days of good driving, good company and surprisingly good weather. A highlight for many was our visit to the Robert Fuller Gallery at Thixendale to view the celebrated wildlife artist’s work.

North Yorks – Jeff Marsden – The October natter was a talk by Mr George Martin about the RAF and V bombers, in particular their role in the Falklands War.  It appeared that the logistics of getting them so far from the UK was extremely complex!  A very interesting and informative talk followed by some searching questions.

Our next event will be the “End of Season” run to Cragg Farm near Menston.

Vale of York – Rick Illingworth – The Vale Of York natter again met at noon  on the third Thursday at The Bay Horse , Goldsborough. 15 members braved the heavy rain to enjoy the usual hospitality.

Natter founder Ken Cothliff and Julie took their MGB  “Marmalade”  to the MGB60 event at the British Motor Museum on 25th September at Gaydon, Warwickshire. There were over 1200 MGBs and members from all over the world, and the car park was packed with vehicles including many special MGBs from all over Europe and including the Speckled Hen car, the Jean Denton Rally Car, and several interesting special bodied cars, with a pick-up MGB attracting much attention.

Ken and Julie also joined the 24/39 Group on their special event to mark the 90th anniversary of the MGCC with a tour of the Yorkshire Wolds. Over the three days the routes covered 208 miles, and the event had a three-course dinner at the venue and base for the weekend, the Cave Castle Hotel, at the edge of the Wolds.

A number of Natter members also attended the Otley Vintage Extravaganza.

East – Jill Thornton -Nearly another year done!! Great attendance at the October Natter.  Graham Tabor kindly put together a quiz which was won by Team Rory with Ray & Gill Snowley 2nd.
