The September Natter featured an entertaining talk by Neil Hanson about his experiences in the mate 1970’s/early 1980’2 running the highest pub in the UK , Tan Hill, which many of us have used as a stop off on some of the Dales Runs. Upcoming events include another speaker for the October Natter, Graham Read, whose subject is ‘Magical Monaco’, and our End of Season Run organised by Jeff Marsden on 19th October.

As usual Foreman’s invited MGCC members on their September run . Closed roads around Sutton Bank caused problems but the 119 miles route, and catering at the start/finish , appear to have been enjoyed by all . Poor weather prevented many from running ‘top down’ .Our sympathy goes to Mark in his MGA which does not have a roof to put up .
Due to low numbers at the September Natter [late Summer holidays being taken] we decided to postpone the quiz until November, we will also run a raffle at that Natter too. Donations of prizes would be greatly appreciated.
It has been confirmed that this year’s EYMGCC Christmas Run and Lunch will take place on Sunday 8th December, to start and finish at Cottingham Parks Golf & Leisure Club, Cottingham HU16 5SW. Further information and contact details can be found on the Yorkshire Calendar of Events on the website.
We will run the annual Scalextric Challenge on the December 12th Natter

The September VoY Natter was treated to glorious weather, which in turn led to a glorious display of MG’s .The Blue Bell in Arkendale offers a perfect suntrap seating area. Summer hats, sunglasses, sun lotion, and tall cool drinks were all needed. Goes to show one of the many advantages of a lunchtime Natter. One MG attracted admirers like a moth to a light. The car in
question is a genuine multiple award winning MGC GT, owned by a recent new Natter member Stephen Walker. Stephen’s MGC is no ordinary MGC, because it’s a genuine University Motors Special [UMS] sporting a stage 3 Downton conversion. Downton tuned engines offered performance, refinement, and economy. In the case of a stage 3 Downton MGC the performance amounted to 174 bhp. A stage 3 UMS could reach 60 mph in 7.3 seconds, leaving the MGB V8, Austin Healey 3000 and even a 3 litre Ford Capri in it’s wake. MG historians report that only 21 genuine UMS examples were ever sold.

The warm welcome and culinary offerings of The Old Post Office were particularly needed at this month’s Natter as the weather marked a firm end to summer motoring for us MG’ers.
A number of members attended the recent Dales Run and ‘Down South’ trips and as always, thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Preparations are in place for the Alan Dakeyne 94th Anniversary Run in October. Please see the Club website and follow the ‘Centres’ link to ‘Yorkshire’ to find details of this and all other up-coming events.
In order to secure bookings and preferential hotel rates, members were asked to register their interest early to secure places for the trip to Northern Ireland in late August 2025. A date has also been set for next year’s Daffodil Run – always a firm favourite and well attended.

Just another couple of runs before the MG season finishes. The Alan Dakeyne / 94th Anniversary Run, which those who took part in will have enjoyed by the time you read this.
Following the closure of Moss parts in Shipley, the West Natter members are now only about 2 miles away from collecting their Midget & MGB service parts as Retro Sports Cars Ltd at Bailiff Bridge now have them in stock with all other parts available within 2 days – easier than a trip to Shipley
