As usual our January Natter is when we go through our year’s calendar of events and electing
members for various duties and responsibilities. The outcome of the meeting has been circulated
to members by Chris Moore in an email.
Tony Reid has organised a Scalextric Challenge with The Norton Group at the March Natter,
Thursday 13th . They are kindly bringing their huge track again , so get ready to rumble !!
I would suggest that all members take a look at the Calendar of Events on the MGCC Yorkshire
website. . It’s a fairly packed year for our region and beyond.
The Foreman’s Run for Drive it Day will go ahead Sunday 27th April.
Ray Snowley [sno500@outlook.com] needs to know ASAP those who would like to attend.
The Wolds Way Run is Sunday 11th May [details on CoE].
The first evening social run is Thursday 11th May, leaving the Fire Station car park in Beverley
HU17 0AJ . We must leave no later than 7pm as a lot of pubs stop serving food quite early these days.
Vale Of York – James Thornborough.
Three new members attended the first Natter meeting of 2025. Lunch attendance will soon hit 30.
Most prized is the social interaction. The cars are stars, but the members glow brighter. Joining the
January Natter was Michael Winn, a member of the Great British Car Journey [GBCJ] Museum in
Ambergate, Derbyshire – Great British Car Journey / A tour through British motoring history.
Michael took a drive from Derby to attend our Natter, for the simple reason he knew some of the
folk from the 2024 MGC Day hosted at the GBCJ , and he wanted to have lunch with great company.
Michael is responsible for the GBCJ Museum Newsletter and owns a very fine MGC himself, as does
a good friend of his. The VoY Natter MGC’s are all fantastic examples. Three of them are University
Motors Specials, which are very rare and sought after.
South – Rob Mitchell
For our first gathering in 2025, members reflected on the Chilly Willy Run which was held on the
19th January. This was a result of the snow and ice that blighted our parts of the country on the weekend of the 5th. It was still very chilly but clear roads and a lovely warm meal at the end were much appreciated by the 14 attendees. Thanks to Pete and Keith for planning and organising the event.
We also welcomed a new member, we look forward to seeing Ian Allonby again , with his MG Midget at future Natters and upcoming events.
As metioned last month, preparations are underway for the Daffodil Run, which will take place on
Sunday 13th April. This is a popular event in our calendar, traversing South and West Yorkshire so please note the date – and see more details elsewhere wthin this edition of SafetyFast !
