Due to a change of plan by the proposed speaker for our March Natter, Paul and Iris Hooper
kindly stepped in with a General Knowledge Quiz that certainly tested the old grey matter !
Since several teams ended up with the joint highest score, a tiebreaker was used and the eventual winner by a hair’s breadth was Keith Beningfield. Congratulations to him and runners up Rosemary Croft and Carol Copeman.
The season is getting nicely under way and entry forms are now out for the Wolds Way Run [Sunday 10th May] and the Compass Run [Sunday 2nd August].

A decent turnout for the March Natter. Went through a few future events and ideas for new events, followed by a quiz produced by me ! Quite a bit of moaning that it was too hard ! Winners were team Ray Snowley and John Milner, who were presented with a bottle of wine and a tub of sweets. Wooden spoon [ a bag of Haribos] went to June and Tony Reid !
Welcome to new member Tony Smith who has an MG TF, who coincidentally knew a couple of other members from different walks of life, small world !
Hoping that the weather will be kind to us for the Wolds Way Run, there may still be time for late entries, although it will be too late to go in the Route Guide or receive a rally plaque.
There was much debate about which month to have the Pride of Ownership, we will be sticking to the July Natter this year.
Nice to see a bit of sunshine, albeit negated by the chilly winds ! Fasten your hats on those in open tops !
The first Evening Social Run this year is Thursday My 28th, meeting at the car park on School Lane Beverley HU17 9AW. Situated behind gthe Fire Station. Finishing at a pub with food available, but you will need to choose your meal before you set off. Last car away no later than 7pm.

The VoY lunch for March was ably covered by Mark Sneesby. Classic cars are a welcome distraction from an increasingly unstable world. However the latest Middle East conflict is a mightyproblem, that we all need to pay attention to. Many VoY Natter members were impacted: ahead of foreign travel, during travel, and trying to get back. One couple were in the thick of it during a stop-over in Dubai, while two other couples had their pre-planned holidays cancelled. Now we all face the prospect of much more expensive energy bills. If only we were more resilient for global shocks.

A warm welcome to our newest members – Mick and Janet Sayles who joined us for the evening at the Old Post Office. We look forward to seeing their newly acquired and re-commissioned MGBGT.
We are effectively back into that time of year when SORN applications are reversed and those tentative trials back out in the open are taking place . With this in mind, it was fitting to review the numerous upcoming events and begin our prayers for good weather.
Speaking of which, we began the calendar with April’s Daffodil Run. A full write-up will be included in next month’s edition of Safety Fast! Amongst the various national events taking place this year,we identified nine local dates for Runs, etc. So if you missed the Daffodil Run, please get in touch about these, which are all lined up in the coming season.
