Chairman’s Chat – David Copeman

I think everyone will agree it’s been another successful year for MG events in Yorkshire.

The weather gods must have our calendar of events as the sun shone for top-down motoring on the majority of events.

My thanks to all the committee members, natter leaders, sub-committees, and individuals who have organised events throughout the year. Just a reminder of the past events that will be repeated in 2026, but with different routes and destinations: Daffodil Run. Wolds Way Run, Compass Run, Dales Run, 96th Anniversary Run, breakfast meets, lunchtime and evening runs.

The Yorkshire Centre was also involved in organising MG/Fest at Croft, this being the first Northern MG event it proved a success and future MG/Fests are being planned.

By the time this goes to press it will be Christmas party time.

On behalf of Carol and myself, we wish you all a Very Happy Christmas and a faultless New Year

for your MG throughout 2026.

North – Stephen Coltman

For our October Natter, members enjoyed a Fish & Chip supper at the Tempest Arms, kindly arranged by Rosemary Croft, followed by a general discussion. Saturday 18th October saw our End of Season Run, which started at Bloom Garden Centre near Skipton, and followed a delightful route through Wharfedale, Wensleydale, and Swaledale, finishing at the Dog and Gun Inn at Cross Hills, where participants enjoyed a pleasant meal. Thanks go to Paul and Rosemary Croft for organising this run, which was by no means easy due to ongoing road closures which necessitated re-planning the route several times!

East – Jill Thornton

We enjoyed a ‘Yorkshire themed’ quiz at the October Natter, hosted by Nicky and David Rowe. Prizes were Yorkshire teabags, biscuits, and a Yorkie bar!

Around 21 cars joined the Foreman’s Run with all proceeds being donated to local charity. The East Yorkshire Christmas lunch and run is being held at the Cave Castle Hotel on Sunday 7th December.

There may be some last-minute availability – contact Chris Moore to enquire.

A final comment for the last Safety Fast notes of 2025. We would all like to give a huge thank you to Ray Snowley for his massive efforts across all the Yorkshire Centre events this year. We know how long it takes to organise just one event let alone half a dozen! You are very much appreciated Ray. And so, ends 2025, hope everybody has a great festive season – see you on the other side!

Vale of York – James Thornborough

The Vale of York Natter helped raise funds to modernise the cricket pavilion at Helper by by supporting their annual September Classic Car show. The star of that show was the first ever AC Cobra. This same car graced the covers of the sales promotional material and the owners manual.

It was also loaned to [Sir] Sterling Moss at Le Mans, when he was working his way back to fitness, following his terrible racing accident. The VoY Natter was the strongest contingent at the show. £1500 was raised across the entries. Hats off to VoY Natter member Phil Horner, who along with his wife Angela, helped organise the entire event.

South – Rob Mitchell

This month’s Natter took place at a temporary alternative location – and very nice it was too! If you’re ever in the area , please give ‘The Full House’ in Monk Bretton a try. We revert back to ‘The Old Post Office’ for our next Natter , the last one of 2025, in November.

Naturally for the time of year, the future events calendar is somewhat reduced but we do have the

Christmas meal to look forward to in December, and the Chilly Willy Run will take place on 4th

January 2026.

The winter is a good time to address those running repairs to our cars that accumulated during the

more active period of the year. We hope they go well as we have a packed calendar for the next

season, so please keep an eye on the Club’s website and notes within Safety Fast! . An early mote

for our diaries is the 2026 Daffodil Run which is now confirmed for the 12th April.

From everyone at the South Yorkshire group, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !
