We held our AGM a month late this year due to cancelling January’s Natter because of an adverse weather forecast. It was decided that in future years we would continue to hold the NY AGM in February.
A lively discussion over chip butties followed the business of the AGM, with members coming up with plenty of suggestions for events, speakers, etc., for the 2026 Natter season. Next month’s meeting will feature a general knowledge quiz, and it would appear that we have pretty much filled the remainder of the calendar already!
The first major event was the Centre Awards Lunch and AGM held at the Bridge Hotel Walshford on Sunday 22nd February. NY winners were Rosemary Croft who was awarded the Haworth Trophy for arranging and organising events, and Jeff and Kate Marsden who won the Kimber Long Distance Trophy.

The Natter enjoyed a hilarious game of steal the parcel; we’re all just big kids at heart!
We also managed to organise volunteers for the 4 evening social runs, and for the various positions required on the Wolds Way. Thanks to you all. There is still time to enter Wolds Way, details on the YC Calendar of Events.
Eleven EY members attended the very enjoyable Awards Lunch & AGM. Ray Snowley, very deservedly, was awarded 3 trophies – Bronte, Airedale & Weir Head.
Christine Moore was awarded the Trophy for Centre Lady Enthusiast – well done.
We welcome back the Norton Group to our April Natter – kindly bringing their super-duper Scalextric track. It will be a fun evening!
Vale of York – James Thornborough
What a sodden Winter [excuse my French]. Perhaps we should have all gone SORN this winter. And saved ourselves some money. I run a University Motors Special MG C Roadster [ the last – finished on 02/09/69]and an MG F Abingdon, both have been very idle this Winter. The MG C is more idle than the F, because it’s currently missing its engine. A noisy cold start back in late August, alerted me to something amiss. Broken piston rings were to blame. The car has an amazing history file, so I knew the engine workover would be it’s first since 1979. I am so grateful that I have a trusted local classis car garage that I could turn to. The classic car industry at garage level is a classic car life saver.

After all the recent rain. It was good to meet up on a dry and mild evening. The Club’s Annual
Awards Lunch and AGM in February was attended by a number f members which naturally then initiated our own mini ceremony.
This year, the Natter Enthusiast Award, the Stross Trophy, was awarded to Geoff & Pauline Norcliffe for their commitment, support and hard work over the last 12 months. For similar contributions, our Founder’s Trophy was awarded to an equally well deserving Derek and Alison Cogill. Congratulations to both – we look forward to another year of the same!
Everyone should now have dates in the diaries for upcoming events. The Daffodil Run [12th April] route is set and tested. Please see adverts in this edition of SF and the Club website for details of this and many other events.
As mentioned last month, our Natter Leader, Steve Dobson, was completing his two-year stint and his successor, myself, was duly selected for the roll. Thanks again to Steve for overseeing matters and activities during this period.
