North – Stephen Coltman
Our first natter of the new year [deferred from january due to adverse weather] held on 13th February, took the form of an Annual Planning Meeting to discuss ideas from members for forthcoming events, and to go through some of the regular annual fixtures. Such as the Daffodil & Wolds Way Runs. By the end of the evening, we managed to come up with suggestions to fill the calendar for the year, which Jeff Marsden kindly summarised and forwarded to members via our WhatsApp group. Chip butties were served half way through the evening, which were enjoyed by all!
East – Jill Thornton
Ten East Yorkshire members attended the Centre Awards Lunch and AGM, again The Bridge produced a beautiful 3 course meal, and East came home with a trio of trophie and other commendations
Jill Thornton and Chris Moore were awarded the Goathland Trophy for Centre Lady Enthusiasts, Christine and Adrian Benson were awarded the Bronte Trophy for East Yorkshire Enthusiasts of the year. Ray Snowley received the Weir Head Trophy for his contribution to morotsport legislation/marshalling. Chris and Steve Moore received a commendation for their contribution to the organisation of last year’s Cavalcade.
Somehow, I was elected on to the Centre |Committee – I blame the wine I had with lunch!! Thanks David Copeman !
REMINDER – the evening social runs restart on the last Thursday in May, and the Wolds Way event runs on 11th May. See calendar of events for further details.
Vale Of York – James Thornborough.
The February Natter focused on the year ahead, starting with ‘Drive it Day’. The VoY natter was so keen to get tyres on the road, that April 6th was selected as a precursor to the main event. The destination chosen was the Cravens Motorcycle Museum in York, which opens to the public that day. The Natter also decided to recognize the 80th Anniversary of VE day with a military themed trip planned for May 8th. It made perfect sense to reprise the ‘Canada Run’ [a shorter version] originally planned by VoY member [and former leader] Ken Cothliff. The ‘Canada Run’ visits the air bases and memorials, in honour of the Canadian Air Force, who were based in the Vale of York, during WW2.
South – Rob Mitchell
Following the previous weekend’s Centre Annual Awards Ceremony, members held their own mini ceremo0ny and awards were made as follows;
Stross / South Yorkshire Natter Enthusiast’s trophy went to Mike Breedon for his continued support, guidance and assistance with arranging and managing events. The Janice Hobbs trophy went to Pete Long and Keith Pinder for their efforts planning a number of very successful and enjoyable events in the past year, and finally, the |South Yorkshire Natter Founders trophy went to the Natter’s Scribe, which was humbly received, particularly as it is I who writes these notes!!
Very well done to everyone; thoroughly deserved.
A good number of entry forms have been received for the Daffodil Run on 13th April, and there is still time for late entries. Historically, the range of participating MG’s has been blended with a selection of non-MG modern and classic marques, and this year is no exception.
Running parallel to the Daffodil Run are a range of other events for the calendar, and since we are now entering the ‘off-SORN’ season, hopefully everyone’s mechanical preparations are going well.
