February’s meeting was much anticipated, always popular, slot car racing.
We welcomed a new member of the Natter – Paul Fletcher from Menston, near Guiseley. He partnered your scribe for the racing.
Nick Mann had this time organized it into a ‘Le Mans’ style race with two drivers to each car, and a time limit in which to get in as many laps as possible. Not as easy as it sounds. Drivers swapped half way through, and the “co-driver’s” responsibility was to relocate the car on the track if it came off. On top of that Nick had organized draw cards rather like the ‘Chance’ cards in Monopoly, which gave the teams bonus or penalty laps.
It was all great fun, and was won by regular racing drivers, the Marsdens and the Beningfields.
The new Classic Car meet, “Wednesday at the Woolly”, has now been established on the second Wednesday of each month, commencing on April 13th at 4.00 to 4.30pm. The location is the Woolpack Inn at Esholt near Shipley – BD17 7QZ. The village and pub is famous for being the original location for the “Emmerdale” TV series, and has an excellent menu. All classic cars are welcome.
As this is typed the sun is shining, and I think it might be a portent of spring, and an MG day today!!
