North – Jeff Marsden. Motorsport activity for members of North Natter saw Keith Beningfield compete in his TC at Harewood Hillclimb on 4th June achieve a time of about 72 seconds.
Jeff Marsden and son, James, competed in the MG Live MGB60 race at Silverstone starting and finished mid field. Just need more track time!
On the 9th June it was their Pride of Ownership competition when Bill and Sandra Poole took 2 prizes with their MGA, the Best in Show as judged by a member of the Tempest Arms and the pre 1962 category. Paul and Karen Friend won the ’62 to ’74 class with their MGB and Keith and Margaret Beningfield won the post ’74 with their TF. Looking forward, there is a talk about Naylor Cars by David Naylor at the next Natter and the annual DIY Barbecue in August.
EAST – Jill Thornton. Due to a low turnout at the June Natter the Pride of Ownership was postponed until July. A few East Yorkshire members attended MG Live which was brilliant despite the cold wind!! The previous issue with the speakers and pub quiz has been resolved, so no need to change the Natter venue which is a great relief. The last evening social run is on Thursday 25th August, 7pm start from the Humber Bridge car park.
Vale of York – Rick Illingworth Vale of York Natter was held at lunchtime on the 3rd Thursday of the month at The Bay Horse, Goldsborough. 22 members enjoyed an alfresco meeting in the beautiful garden, Fine sunny weather brought out a wide variety of MG models ranging from 1934 to 2014!
South – Mike Breedon South members had an active month again in spite of many being away on holiday. 8 members making a long weekend out of the Heartbeat Run plus two who just did the event. The annual Pride of Ownership Contest was held at the monthly Natter with a decent mixed group of MG cars to choose from. Pete Long took 1st Prize with his MGB Roadster, Keith Pinder’s MGA came 2nd and new Natter member David Gillingham’s MGB Roadster V8 took 3rd. A surprised Peter Long took the Douglas Trophy, originally given to the Natter by Bob & Lynne Douglas who are still keen members of the Natter even though they now reside in New Zealand.
West – David Copeman The sun was out for our June meeting when we had our Pride of Ownership event. 17 cars were on display, being very closely inspected by the 31 members. The voting was quite close between the 1st and 3rd places. Eric Batchelor and Rob Dickinson B and BGT respectively joint 3rd place, James Johnson and Ricky O’Hara Dolomite Sprint and Maestro Turbo respectively joint 2nd place. First place unanimously went to the Chris Flanagan’s SVR which Chris completed building this year.
