MGCC YORKSHIRE CENTRE
End of December 2022 Natter Notes
North – Jeff Marsden We have not had a meeting in December but a number of members did go to an Asian restaurant for lunch. No comments so it must have gone well! We are hoping to have a lunch at Skipton Golf Club in January, after which the natter moves to a new venue in Burley in Wharfedale whilst the Tempest is refurbished. Colin Brear, the Natter leader, stands down in January so we are looking for a replacement leader, but as usual there is not a queue forming. We shall probably try and run “by committee” and see how it goes. Hope you have had a good Christmas and will have a happy, healthy, prosperous and enjoyable 2023.
East – Jill Thornton Around 30 members enjoyed a scenic run and lovely meal finishing at Cave Castle, South Cave. Many thanks to Chris and Adrian Benson for organising the event.
December saw the annual Scalextic challenge. After several rounds was won by Graeme Reid. Looking forward to another year of Natters and events.
West – David Copeman Nothing much happening in December apart from joining other natters Christmas Dinners. At the November meeting the few regular members voted to use the remaining petty cash on a Pizza evening at the December meeting as the Faith Supper no longer takes place.
Unfortunately, when Carol went to pay the bill there was a problem the monies in the envelope was no longer legal tender, the envelope had been locked away since 2019, thanks to Carol for the treat.
South – Mike Breedon December saw 19 Members at a Christmas dinner at the Just Thai restaurant, enjoyed by all. Pete Long and Keith Pinder worked together to put on a Chilly Willy Run on 1st January for around 12 cars. In addition, final arrangements and hotels bookings were put in place for a Northumberland and Scottish Borders Tour for September 2023 with work continuing on a Daffodil Run on April 16th and a Dales Run on 28th August 2023. No Natter but still a busy month!!
Vale of York – Rick Illingworth Continue to meet at noon on the third Thursday of the month at the Bay Horse Inn, Goldsborough near Knaresborough. The December Natter was in the form of a Christmas lunch which the Inn staff delivered to a delighted gathering of 18 members. The raffles held in 2022 and organised by Julie Cothliff have been a great success and there were sufficient surplus funds available to allow members to decide which charity to donate £ 130 to. All present agreed that the donation should be made to Yorkshire Cancer Research.
